First You Draw A Circle... Then You Dot The Eyes!

KIRBY is a series of video games, created by Masahiro Sakurai and published by HAL Labs. The first game in the series, Kirby's Dream Land for the GameBoy, was released on April 27th, 1992. The latest game, Kirby's Return To Dream Land Deluxe for the Switch, was released on February 24th, 2023. Kirby has spawned a large franchise, including 39 games, a cafe, an anime series and more.

The series follows Kirby and their adventures in Dream Land. Sometimes they're joined by their friends, notably King Dedede, Meta Knight and Bandana Dee. Kirby protects Dream Land from various threats including evil sorcerers, floating eyeballs and more.

The games are known for their lore, as well as a lot of the final bosses being nightmare fuel despite everything else being cute and adorable. The music is also infamous, and for good reason!

Kirby is easily the most important series to me and who I am. I still remember when I downloaded the demo for Kirby: Planet Robobot on my 3DS (that I still have). I was glued to the console the whole day and was upset that the demo was so short. I remember begging my mom to buy me the game on the eShop (RIP). That day I played the entire main game and got all the collectables, my poor 3DS battery was in the red.
Later in 2018, Kirby Star Allies dropped. I remember the hype around it almost vividly, but what I remember the most from that era was meeting one of my best friends Cinth, who is near and dear to me!

Kirby has managed to sneak its way into basically everything I make, hell it's even my namesake! My artstyle, the ideas I have for games, the characters I design, etc etc. At this point just assume anythign I make has even a tiny bit of Kirby DNA. Kirby is how I got closer to many of my dear friends and something I always find myself coming back to.

My favourite game is Kirby: Planet Robobot!

This is the game that got me into Kirby. I was instantly hooked as soon as I launched the demo and heard the first few notes in the title screen. I have this game memorized at this point. The game has a very unique look to it where Pop Star is completely modernized. It makes Pop Star feel like a whole new planet, and not the same home Kirby has lived in for years.
The abilities introduced are some of my favourites, especially the ESP ability. I had so much fun spamming it as a kid. The music is phenomenal too, my favourite track being Vagrant Counting Song of Restrospective.
On 06/04/2024, I finally beat the true arena and 100% completed Kirby Planet Robobot.
